Rent Protection - Eligibility

Our Rent Protection policy provides private Landlords and Letting Agents to protect the rental income against a tenant failing to pay their rent. To be eligible to take out our Rent Protection policy, we ask that:

  • Your client either owns the property or is legally responsible for the collection of rent
  • The property will only be rented to tenant(s) who are at least 18 who will only use it for residential purposes
  • A satisfactory tenant reference check has been carried out on the tenant(s) and a tenancy agreement is in place for the duration of the policy
  • The first month's rent must have been received and all statutory pre-grant notices must have been issued before allowing the tenant into possession of the property

We want to let you know...

As with all insurance policies there are circumstances when cover can't be offered or a claim paid. For example, where a satisfactory tenant reference for each tenant hasn't been obtained, any claim relating to violence or dishonesty on the part of the policyholder, legal expenses incurred without our prior consent and any claim for Rent Protection where there is no related claim being pursued to evict the tenant.

These are only examples. For full details of what's covered and what's not covered please read our Rent Protection policy booklet. Alternatively you can find further information in our Insurance Product Information Document for Rent Protection.
